I'm using ATI MMC 9.02 to capture movies in MPEG-2 format so I can burn them to DVD, but I'm having serious problems. Basically, the audio falls out of sync with the video in certain places.

I'm capturing from a Moxi DVR using the coaxial input on an ATI AIW 9600 card -- the sound jacks are broken, so I can't use composite or S-video. However, none of my capture programs (except ATI's TV Tuner) will recognize the coax input, so I'm very limited in which capturing software I can use.

The captured movie will play ok in Windows Media Player, but if I try to "seek" to later in the movie, the video freezes up for several seconds until the audio catches up (if ever.) This generally happens about 20 minutes into the movie, but what's strange is that later parts of the movie (say, the 90-minute mark) have no problem at all.

DivX Player crashes with the error: "StreamSourceFilter:eekFromBeginning(0) out of ReadLimit range: -1" Previewing in NeroVision reveals the sync problem.

I've read numerous threads on this board and followed much of the advice, such as upgrading to the latest drivers, disabling write-caching on hard disk, setting sound acceleration to "none", etc. Nothing has helped. I tried using PVAStrumento which one person said could fix the sync problem, but that just made things worse.

I'm just about out of ideas. Is there anything I'm missing??

[edited to add:]
Ok, I was able to capture a complete movie by switching to Constant Bitrate (6.01) - would still like to record in VBR, though. Also, there's a new wrinkle...when I used Nerovision with the CBR file, the program locked up about 50 secs. into the transcoding problem. Any help?
