  1. Firstly apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but :-

I have successfully done this before, but this time I hit problems.

Captured to mpeg from vhs via canopus advc300 using Nero, mpeg plays fine on computer.

Using TMpG author the file "plays fine and audio in synch as I edit and create menus, as soon as I create the ouput ready to burn the audio goes out of synch, BUT it has already told me that I am creating file which are 5.7gb long, too much for a 4.7 ofcourse, and that the combined bit rate is too high.

Have proceeded before ok, and then used dvd shrink to shrink to 4.7 ish.

I am guessing I need to recapture at a lower bit rate to create a smaller file? which brings me to a basic question if capturing vhs which is not the greatest quality, does capturing at 352x576 create a better picture than 720x576 as it would not be "testing" the resolution of the original too much or am I full of it <g>

In the past have used Cyberlink powerproducer to capture direct to mpeg, so may be thats why I am getting problems now as using the ever so popular Nero?

    Thank You Thank You everyone.

This is not just authoring. It is everything from capturing to authoring and then use the general forum. Moving you.

  3. No help on this one I see, have found that re-capturing getting Power producer to split capture into dvd size chunks has cured audio synch!

However my questions still stand, will lower resolution give better quality if source dodgy?

Capturing to AVI is all well and good, but the encosing will take me to my grave!

    Thanks Gauys
