Hello Forum Members, I want to get a better Capture Card and have been looking at the Canopus ACEDVio ($359-list/NO Software). I also plan on using Sony Vegas 5 to do the capturing (already have).

I'm also curious if Scenalyzer would work with the Canopus ACEDVio Card?? Or what other software I could use to capture as an auxilary program. Would Premier 6 work?? Anyone....!

I mostly capture from VHS or S-VHS tapes.

Does this sound like a Great setup????
    Good Setup????
    Poor Setup???

    Any comments appreciated.

    Thanks to All who respond.

  2. I was lucky enought to get the ACEDVio when it came bundled with Vegas 4. Canopus was the end of a long search to find a solid capture solution. One thing I did not like about the card is the inputs. One S video witha RCA converter just don't cut it.

As far as other software, Vegas is all I have needed so far. Works great! I can say that your computer will see your card as basically a firewire device so any software that edits AVI and can capture firewire should work.

Hello Pat Brown, Thanks for your reply. I too saw the inputs as being the weak point. Although, I've been capturing to the computer for over 3 years now and for the most part all I've needed are regular RCA inputs. I've only used an s-video input a few times.

Once I connect the RCA to the s-video inputs - is the connection a solid one???

    Thanks...

  4. Yes the connection is tight. I put an over hand knot where the s video connects to the adapter but this is not necessary iguess.

I have a S-VHS connected to the card. This offers conversion and has front composite and S-video ports. This keeps me from having to switch cables around.
