  1. Has anyone been at a wedding when someone has objected to the two people being married? If so, what happens afterwards?

Also, would you object to a marriage?

Nope. If I didn't approve, I wouldn't be at the wedding. But the chances of not approving would be slim ...like if my daughter wanted to marry a rapper .....or a terrorist

The wedding is stopped at that instant.

Really? Like I thought the couple would have then said, "we choose to marry blah blah despite his/her objections".

No. Then it would require an immediate frontal assault on the groom

Especially if the person objecting is NorthCat's present wife objecting to him marrying another woman while they're still married. What person in there right mind would continue the ceremony regardless of what the bride and groom want.

I'll bet there are several who wished someone would have chimmed in and objected.

Dude, I have nothing to live for, and NorthCat is not going to waste the 30 cents to pop a cap in my butt. But duide, you got your whole life ahead of you, and couldn't possibly realize how vindictive the Cat can be.

Oh shit! North Cat my man! How you doin'? Nah, he didn't say nuthin'. It was all me. C'mon, Teach, not him! He's just a kid, a litle kid! Cat, oh naw man, naw! Remember what the judge said: One more dead body, and he doesn't care where you teach, you goin' down! Teach! North Cat!!! Baldrick!!

Planning on objecting to a past girlfriends wedding, or expecting trouble from future in-laws?

On that first point, that's a good way to lose some teeth from the groom's best man and ushers

My friend told me about his friend's wedding. Cermonies were only 6 minutes long. Everyone hated his fiance so much, he thought someone would try to disrupt it. !

I think if you've had sex with either the bride or the groom (but not both) within 72 hours before the wedding, you're obligated to object.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Exactly what Cap said. I wouldn't be there either. My best friend, we've been friends since we were 3 years old, was going to marry this woman...let's call her Michelle (real name)....they were at our house while they were dating and she asked him to do everything for him. "Get me a drink of water", "get me some more food", "can you rub my feet"....etc, etc. They were sitting on my couch and I said "Gary...are you ******* serious about marrying this bitch?" She exploded instantly, I said "I don't recall anyone talking to you so sit back down and STFU." He married her anyway, I didn't go. They were married for 2 years, had 2 kids and she started cheating on him with a guy that I worked with. She then begged me not to tell him, I told him. He went nuts...and I do mean nuts...apparently he really loved her I get a phone call that evening, it was Michelle, crying and screaming, so in to his house I go, I get there and here my friend is, has her pinned down between their bed and the wall, with a 12 guage pointed at her, yelling "tell me his ******* name." I diffused that situation, got her out of the house, took him with me, out looking for this guy (not really, but he thought so) we ended up riding around drinking a few beers until I could talk to him long enough to calm him down.

After he got divorced from that chick, he started dating a girl who we had known since she was about 12. She was nice and I liked her, but I again didn't think he should marry her because she was crazy, but I thought this one had a better chance than the first one, so this time I went to the wedding. I was the best man and matched with the hottest bride's maid...sweet!!!

They also ended up divorced just last year. He is now dating some little scraggly looking chick, but she is nice and handles my friend in a positive manner and I like her.

Now in matters of son or daughter, I still wouldn't go, but there would also be no wedding to go to. My kids however seem to have good heads on their shoulders and date good people. My daughter is the wilder one of the 2. She is opinionated, tempermental, blunt honest, and quite a bit on the bitchy side (she's turned like me)...so whoever she ends up with will have to be one patient MFer, I feel sorry for him already Right now my son is a relationship kid. Dated the same girl for 4 years. Started dating her when he was an 8th grader and she was a sophomore (they are the same age, she was a young soph. and he was an old 8th grader). They just broke up 4 weeks ago, she's a freshman in college and he is a junior in HS. Time got to be an issue...obviously, so he broke up with her.

My kids are allowed to make their own decisions, and I let them make their own mistakes, but sometimes when my kids and I clash over something like a girlfriend, they do know that their boyfriend or girlfriend liking me is completely optional and it doesn't bother me one bit for people to not like me.

Marriage who's idea was that? You know I don't mean to seem negative but you know Albert Einstein was divorced. The smartest man ever couldn't figure it out...so how much of a chance to any of us really have?

Smart man Dr.Gee...you live brother...you live for the rest of us who weren't smart enough to stay single

Well, "my friend told me about his friend..." can point straight back at Gee in a way, doesn't it ?

My friend has a friend (ie. ME) ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

northcat - I had no idea you were THAT old. Hell, I didn't know you had kids. I figured you were in your early thirties.

Anyway, I wish someone had objected at my wedding... I mean I have this friend...

Oh come on, you know Whose idea that was. Just because we aren't smart enough to know how to do it right, once we're in it, doesn't make it a bad institution. We don't lose our driving privileges just because we get a fender bender, do we?
