    Hi gilbates,

I would use TMPGEnc to encode the video only (so your AVI is the video source) to DVD compliant MPEG2, and then mux in the AC3 during authoring (assuming you can extract the AC3 as AC3, as opposed to WAV).

I'm not sure, but you may even be able to have the AVI as the audio source during authoring and the authoring tool may just extract the AC3. try it - you've nothing to lose but a little time...

If you're not sure how to get the AC3 out of the AVI and want to stick with the WAV you've got, you can use that too during authoring or (as it's 25fps, I'm guessing you're in a PAL region) you could do WAV -> MP2 (I use ffmpeggui) and use MP2.

If you're not sure it'll fit - use the Videohelp Bitrate Calculator with the relevant bitrate for audio (WAV is 1536kbps, AC3 will be as per the original in the AVI (use AVICodec to see) and MP2 will be whatever you decide in ffmpeggui).

    Hope that helps...
