  1. I've been trying to burn some DVD copies of some home videos. I've successfully gotten the video onto my computer (not sure what format, maybe jpeg). No problems there.

After I burn, the DVD plays ok and looks great except for momentary "pauses," maybe 1-2 seconds long. It's not skipping, because no video or sound is lost. This occurs throughout the whole DVD, on average every 20 seconds or so.

My question is, does this sound like a burner issue or media issue? I'm using Memorex DVD-R, which i think are probably good. The burner itself is MadDog brand. It wasn't super expensive, maybe 90 bucks. Your thoughts? Thanks

  2. Another thing, when the DVD is playing ok (between "pauses"), it looks and sounds great.

How does it look on your TV? It might be whole host of things ..... how did you capture? What were the settings? Did you check for errors after capture? How does it look in "Preview" before you burn it? How much memory do you have on your computer? Did you defrag before burning? Do you have other apps running? Does your screensaver kick in? Did you try a burn on RW so you don't waste disks? And your Profile doesn't tell us anything about your system either. Etc. etc ....

  4. Well...

I had the video professionally captured. It turned out great. I ripped that DVD onto the computer, and it looks great there. My computer is fast and has plenty of memory. All other programs, screensaver, etc are off.

I think it has to do with the burner or the media because I made several copies of the same DVD. On each copy, the "pauses" occur at different times. So the high-quality footage is there. As I said, when the pausing isn't happening, the DVD looks great on the television.

Should I try another brand instead of Memorex? Or do you think it's the less-than-superior quality MadDog burner?

It sounds like a media compatability problem ,try another brand.
