I own an HP DVD300e burner. Burning software - Nero and or DVD Writer. Recent problem - I hear (what I can only describe as a "pop") during the burning process and get an error message that there was a problem and the burning process aborts. Nero log file attached.

I have no idea what any of this means. I think it means I need a new burner. But I don't want to fork out the money for a new one if it is my PC all together or the software. Anyone know? Any inforamtion would be greatly apprecitated. Thanks. Ken Harris

    Hi, I am from germany.

I have yesterday posted a similar thread ( "burner stops while burning" or so... and had exactly the same failure report.

Just your topic let suggest, you would have a problem with your drive itself
Obviously, many people have that problem and I could find an identical Nero failure report on a German speaking forum. Most people conclude, they would have a problem with the hardware and exchage the burner then.

I am not sure about and I am no real expert.
Nero has also a built in tool that recognizes copy protections. When I bought the Hell PC last year, it recognized ( before installing Nero) all normal legal bought DVDs as " possible use of illegal media", that I could first not watch a DVD on the PC. ( > utility partition) At any time then, suddenly the driver was gone and the drive did not work anymore. Those problems were reported by several people.

Well - after all, I am also not sure about what all MS loads their customers down in their automatic updates

I dont know what is meant with "security option". The file itself can be found per " execute" >command "regedit". The function itself is obviously hidden, but can be edited only in binary codes.

    " no value"---change into?
Yesterday, I once erased the whole "WinLogon" folder there and tried again with same result but a bit different behaviour of the driver. With "system recovery" ( can also be deactivated, then it does not but with what result? ) windows had loaded " winlogon" again with the next reboot, but set the value to "1". So that attempt seemed to me rather dangerous.

But I dont know what that has to do with the problem and don`t want to give any false advice. But maybe, there is an expert here
