The WinTV-GO is 20 dollars after rebates (40 before) and the ATI Tv Wonder VE is around 34 dollars, but I do not know which to get.
Here is what I would like it to do:
Record tv shows or DVDs to a svcd format (record straight to svcd if possible), be able to program what shows I want it to record, can it record 2 shows at once (that would be great!).
I know both are mono sound, but whatever, I will mostly be using it for tv shows that I miss due to class or just not being around.
So what do you all recommend me to get? Are both good quality?
My computer stats are:
AMD 1600+
256 RAM (will be 512 soon, 1 stick went bad)
GeForce 4 Ti4600 128 RAM
120 gig + 40 gig HD's at 7200 rpm
MSI motherboard with via chipset

I had the WinTV-Go and hated it.
I now have the ATI 64mb Radeon DiVo and although don't use it for capture anymore it was (pound for pound sorry, dollar for dollar) the best peice of hardware I ever, ever, ever bought.
Good luck

Oh well, too late now. I got the WinTV-GO for 20 bucks after rebates from CompUSA. After some trouble setting it up, it works great. At first I had a bad coxial cable to the card and channels werent that clear, but I got a new one and its great. And with PowerVCR II, its perfect. The only thing I wish it had was hardware encoding instead of processor so I can play games while its recording, but for just getting it to see what the whole tv on computer thing is all about, it is definately cool.

Will, Morphx22 didn't talk about ati Radeon divo, but for the old good ATI TV Wonder VE ....

The TV Wonders were a wonder in that they never seemed to work well for me, ESPECIALLY when recording. I refuse to spend endless hours tweaking my PC to get it to do what it should. However, my new ATI-AIW-9800 PRO 128 has been quite good to me (the video card + tuner). I think it is universally agreed that the All-In-Wonder vid cards work better than the TV Wonders... I know mine does.

Shame on you Sat...
...moderator or not I'll kick your ass
I had no need for the tuner, and even without it the ViVo was superb.
