    what is the best prog for editing i whant to cut a very small piece out of a movie file, just about a second?

    What kind of 'movie' file? There are a lot of types. How about Virtualdub and Womble.

    If you're encoding to mpeg using TMPGEnc, I would use It's built-in cut-editing before encoding. I've never had any playback problems using this method, but frequently have using 3rd party tools.

    loaded the movie into tmpg added the first half in the cut /join and then the second half, after removing the piece i did not require and hit the ok button, only the first half was saved to a file and did not join the second half, what i'm i doing wrong?

    So, from what I gather, you've got two mpeg files that need joining and one that needs editing?

    You can merge the two together ok with TMPGEnc, but a better solution would be to use Womble Mpeg-Vcr to do the cut/editing job. TMPGEnc 'merge & cut' is limited in that it only allows you to select the range you want to keep/merge, not the range you want to discard. This is ok if you're cutting from the end, but if it's something in the middle, or anywhere else, you're stuck.
