Are the light on combo drives locked? I thought the max ripping speed was 16x? Granted I know that is the max...... I just thought my drive would do better than 6.7x? Thanks!!!

6x is good. 16x refers to reaading speed, not ripping speed. usually my liteon dvd rom maxs out at about 9x but my liteon sohw-812S dvd writer maxs out around 6-7x.

Thanks for the information. That disk was a dual layer disk. It is ripping a single layer one now at 12.3x.
