  2. Is this a commercial VHS? It sounds like you may be seeing macrovision copy protection kicking in.

    MJA,

Please don't put all your computer specs in your signature. They are already in your Computer specs on your profile page. Anyone can view them by hovering their mouse over the Computer button at the top of every post. Thanks.

As for your problem, it sounds like you have a damaged tape if the color is only appearing in the upper corners. Have you tried adjusting the tracking already? Try the tape on another VCR if you can ..some are more tolerant of this depending on the mechanical slop in the mechanism.

sorry about the signature thing I'm new here .
About the tapes: The picture looks fine when I watch it on TV, also the VCR doesn't have a tracker. I will see if I can pickup one from Wal-Mart with S-connection. I think they have SANYO 7100 MODEL and /or Panasonic 4750.I’m not sure if both are the correct model numbers

That sounds like a false MV detection.... some capture cards will falsely detect home movies as being copy protected. Have you captured other tapes sucessfully with it? and if so what is there condition compared to the ones you have now. If you haven't treied any other tapes give it whirl and see what happens.... If you have a very recent 1st generation analog tape (either vhs or hi- 8 ) see if it works with that. If it does....well

    See this:

  11. You might be able to get away with using a video "stabilizer", which is not a TBC but an inexpensive way to regulate the sync pulse signal to a stanardized level. Sima makes them (Copy This!) as well as several other companies. Might be worth a try.

Thanks for the help. I tried to capture from the VHS copy. Looks a lot better than capturing it from the original copy, but the problem I have now the file is over 8gb. How can I make it an ISO image? Power Producer isn't helping at all. It just made a lot of files.(Default.c00 to Default.c07)

That is not what I meant, if it works so be it but copies of the original are not going to be as good as the original. I meant to try another tape that was original, preferably a recent one. The reason I suggest this is because the MV probably won't rear it's ugly head if in fact that is the issue your having.

I'm unfamiliar with that software so I can't really give you an advice about it.
