I burn both formats.
What am I then? You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off. -
For 'R' media, both. Have only used +RW for the faster speed (mostly for system backups).

-r for me,
+r is ok but i've had to many problems using them, and that include's changing the Booktype.
So - r for meI Have Always Been Here
Toshiba Regza 37Z3030D, Toshiba HD XE1 + EP-10 ( Both Multiregioned), Samsung BD-P1500 Blu Ray. OPPO DV-983H -
Wouldn't a poll be more appropriate?
I use -R. Tried +R but my drive does not support bitsetting so I don't use it anymore.
I use DVD-RW. -
DVD-R is all ive ever used. So far ive just used Taiyo Yuden and Riteks.
I dont even know what dvd-ram is for, lol -
-R and -RW. The burner I had before only worked with them and I've never tried anything different.
-
I use both.

DVD+R all the way! Actually, I was completely ignorant of the dueling formats when I got my Lite-On LDW-401s. I'm still too chicken to flash it to a 411s (dual-format) & the price of DVD+R media has fallen to an acceptable level, so I'm sticking with it.

95% DVD-R
DVD+RW for testing, for Apex/LiteOn recorders
DVD-RAM for JVC recorder
DVD-RW for testing, JVC recorder
DVD+R never again ... not as compatible as -R and not as good as -R media. Also too expensive. Just not worth it. Maybe if I'm desperate, but only 10-25 at a time at most.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

-R cause +R doesn't work in my home theater system
-
I use both +R, +RW & -R, thats why I bought a dual format drive to use both.
-
I certainly won't argue compatibility or price Lordsmurf, but "not as good" is at best vague. What particular DVD+R media has disappointed you?

I use DVD+R. No real preference, no technical reason. I have a dual-format burner, and every player I've owned (Sony, GE, Philips) has been reported to support both +R and -R. It all came down to economics: the good +R media was on sale for less than the good -R. Since I don't burn DVDs constantly a spool of 25 lasts quite a while.
I haven't had much luck with +RW. I haven't tried -RW yet.A man without a woman is like a statue without pigeons. -
I'm a $ person. Whichever format costs less $ at the time of purchase is what I get! The only + or - I'm worried about is whats on the price tag.
Look, let me explain something. I'm not Mr. Lebowski; you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. That, or Duder. His Dudeness. Or El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing-- -
When I first started burning DVD's I used -R but now I only use +R(with DVD-ROM booktype) and +RW.Price isn't an issue for me but manufacturer is,when I buy brand name +R media I usually get TY,Ricoh or MCC but -R is usually lesser quality.
