  1. Are their any tools out there that check for errors such as pixelation, skipping and freezing of frames on the DVD? Presently, I watch the whole movie to see if there are any problems. I use the verification process in Nero after burning. Does Nero check the DVD to see if there is no pixelation problems and so forth?

    Thank you

nero cannot check for "pixelation problems and so forth."

i have never heard of a program can check for visual problems w/ the disc.

try nero CD/DVD speed or DVDinfo pro and do a surface test and transfer rate/quality test. These test by seeing how fast the drive can read the disc. Faster read (less/no spikes) = less errors.

  3. Well there are several things you could try. As mentioned above, use DVDinfopro, of if you have a liteon burner k-probe. There is also Nero cd-dvd speed that some people use. Another thing to use is PowerDVD, just FF at top speed like 32x or 64x, I forget which, the DVD will usually lock up or pause at points that have playback, and other problems. You could also FF in you DVD player too, as PC DVD drives tend to be more forgiving. For me my DVD player scans at like 64x, so it doesn't take too much time to go through discs, and it pauses/freezes at read errors.
Oh yeah, none of these methods check for video problems per se, but instead check for read errors, which are commonly associated with pixelation and such.
    Blah, blah, blah
