    hi

i dont know, if iam writing to the proper section, ill try anyway.

    iam burning iso-s (movies) for 2-3 years. i had a nect3520a for a long time now i have a Optiarc AD-7173S drive.
i always used tdk dvd-r disks, well i have aproximatly 1000 of them. my problem is random movies keep stalling on dvd-players and i dont know why. i always used dvddecrypter / imgburn with 4x speed and verify, i changed hardware few times too.

i would use some tips how can i make safe working copies. i tried many players etc, sometimes its okey sometimes not, maybe there's some burning software options or method changes anything would be helpful

    thanks in advance, bs

TDK media has changed over the past 2-3 years. Its now CMC. And some of your old disks are aging.

    Your drive has changed.

If you intend to keep your optiarc drive, you will probably have to use TY or Verbatim media. Other posters will tell you that you should with any burner you use.

Older players will have more problems with your TDK media.

It is not possible to have a fool-proof method to burn DVD in any format(-R, +R, -RW, +RW) and makes it work all the time. Unlike commercial DVD, burnt-by-user DVD is of much lower quality. Most people will stick to a best combination of DVD brand, software, DVD player for best performance (after extensive trial). Even then, it does not guarantee 100% function. It is also prone to digital rot. Your 1,000 collection says it all.

TY is Taiyo Yuden. Normally you have to mail order these. Verbatim MCC discs should be fine if you don't want to mail order. I mail order all my blanks because even with shipping it's usually cheaper than to go to a local store to buy Verbatim - IF they have it in stock.
