Can I capture in real-time Mpeg1? and if I need... where do I find the mpeg1 codec?

I have a DVC80. I have used videowave4 with this device to capture mpeg-1. However, you WILL get better results with the DVC80 if you capture in avi and let another prog like TMPGEnc encode it fore you.
