I asked a similar question already, but I couldn't find the response given.
I want to import some MPEG-2 files.
I have Adobe Premiere 1.5.1, and have VirtualDub.
I try to frame serve the file I want to put into Adobe, but it doesn't let me.
I made sure too that it had an *.avi ending too, but the signpost file just doesn't get accepted.
I'm also confused by what FrameServer Network Client is meant to be used for? It asks for a computer name and port. Computer name I think I know, but the port I don't know.

If you aren't serving across a network, the port number is pretty irrelevent. If it has a default, use it. Generally, frameserving is used to pass through to an encoder, not an editor. It can be done with some editors using the vfapi interface. I know Vegas will read vdub signpost files using this, so Premiere should as well. I don't know how slow it will be, or how it might restrict your editing. If you are doing multiple editing sessions, you have to remember to start serving again when you come back.
