I have a Xvid avi it's a TV capture from a sporting event and I wish to convert to VCD.
Yaai says the following:
480x352
29,9706 fps
When i put source as 1:1 VGA in Tmpgenc the result was a slightly stretched image. Which of the following option should i choose?
4:3 525 line NTSC
4:3 525 line NTSC 704x480 (whats that?)
4:3 Display

The source aspect in TMPGEnc should be 1:1 for an AVI (I have found, anyway) and the video arange method (under advanced tab) should be "Full Screen (Keep aspect ratio 2)".
Here's a useful link for TMPGEnc:

As I say, this might not be right but it has always worked for me. Give it a try with a small sample of the video and burn to a CD/DVD-RW and see what it turns out like.
Hope this helps,

Thank you, however how does one decide the aspect ratio of the source?
Is the resolution the sole deciding factor so that I can simply calculate the aspect ratio from the horizontal and vertical resolution values?
It seems people are capturing in all kind of strange resolutions that are hard to convert to 4:3 or at least close to 4:3. -
