    I have just bought a dvdr70,I am very pleased with it ,recording from satellite box.My only concern is the strange metallic buzzing noise it makes when I power it up from standby.Can any other owners confirm whether this is normal or does my player have a problem.

    Well mine does make a noise when powered up, but I wouldn't have described it as a buzzing so I'm not sure if it's the same sound as you're getting. Mine just makes a short mechanical noise which I always assumed was something to do with the drive/laser assembly aligning itself.
