    I've tried it before, not for the reason that you state, but because I was having some other troubles and I never noticed any fast ripping. However, that isn't to say that you won't with your computer. It's a rather simple task to do, so try it for yourself and see.

    The only time i had to reinstall my ide controller was when it was in pio mode and wouldnt go to udma2,fixed the problem and increased the ripping and burning speed back to normal.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.
