Have you tried redownloading your soundcard drivers? Or is this onboard audio?

  6. Go into safemode and delete your soundcard from the device manager. Reboot and see if it re-detects it and fixes it.

Restart your computer and as soon as the bios screen flash past, start hitting F8. You will be given a simple text menu and Safe Mode will be one of the options.

Once it has booted (and this will take longer than normal), right-click on My Computer and select Manage. Click on Device Manager, find your sound card, and uninstall it. Reboot the system and see what happens.

Do you have a TV capture or tuner card in the system at all ?

    no i dont.

All thats happened is that i had a msn virus, did a system restore, worked fine for a few days then the other day i booted up the computer and no audio.

Has happened once before too, but i found the driver cd. Last time i think it was just the audio drivers off the motherboard where this time it says it is the Multimedia Audio Controller.

    Will try safe mode now

  13. stiltman I think you meant 800x600@ 60hz. 60 Mhz would be a heck of a refresh rate

Sorry, I couldn't resist throwing that in. Slow morning at work.

    Cheers
