Have you tried redownloading your soundcard drivers? Or is this onboard audio?
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
how do i find out what sound card i have?
I used Belarc to find out what my motherboard was
doesnt seem to be a sound card section
says C-Media AC97 Audio Device.......would that be it? -
The latest AC97 audio driver for your motherboard is here.
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=1777 -
i downloaded those drivers last night ...didnt help at all
this is so damn annoying! -
Go into safemode and delete your soundcard from the device manager. Reboot and see if it re-detects it and fixes it.

stupid question but
How do i go into safe mode and disable sound card? -
Restart your computer and as soon as the bios screen flash past, start hitting F8. You will be given a simple text menu and Safe Mode will be one of the options.
Once it has booted (and this will take longer than normal), right-click on My Computer and select Manage. Click on Device Manager, find your sound card, and uninstall it. Reboot the system and see what happens.
Do you have a TV capture or tuner card in the system at all ?Read my blog here.

no i dont.
All thats happened is that i had a msn virus, did a system restore, worked fine for a few days then the other day i booted up the computer and no audio.
Has happened once before too, but i found the driver cd. Last time i think it was just the audio drivers off the motherboard where this time it says it is the Multimedia Audio Controller.
Will try safe mode now -
Get the latest AC97 drivers from here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=...&GetDown=false -
when i go to safe mode a blank screen comes up with just the words video capture not working
or something similar cant remember exactly
but i cant navigate to my computer to uninstall sound card screen just freezes -
ok is says "video mode not supported"
this is frustrating
none of the above drivers worked and i cant uninstall -
boot up regular and change your resolution to 800x600 @ 60 mhz
In order to change the mhz click advanced on the setting tab then click monitor tab clcik the down arrow
Now see if you can boot to safe mode -
stiltman I think you meant 800x600@ 60hz. 60 Mhz would be a heck of a refresh rate
Sorry, I couldn't resist throwing that in. Slow morning at work.
Cheers -
