  1. I have:
    Drive: NEC 1300A +- 4x burner.
Media: 4x -R Optodisk and Ritek media from rima.com.
    Fuji dvd-rw from bestbuy.

I have flashed to various levels(official 1.0A and hacked firmware's 1.08v2 from herrie) with same result. Still cant use the Ritek's. I am using Nero 6.x version from like 2-3 months ago.

I thought i could run dvdrinfo pro on any dvd-rom drive and get media info. I tried getting the dvdrinfo media info from a new ibm reader that i have access to but the led read lite just keeps on flickering and doesn't go off. Only tried optodisk and ritek but it seems like it cant read them so i cant get media info from dvdinfopro. I can get media info from on the nec 1300a for the fuji and optodisk but not ritek. So I know it cant be nero as even dvdinfo pro cant read it. Tells me invalid disk.

I have not tested the disks on any other burner..

    Bad media?? Ideas?

    Thanks..

Sounds like bad media. Many people have issues with Riteks and NEC. My NEC ND-2500A is not too fond of Ritek itself. Combine that with it being a poor reader, and its a nightmare.

If the other brands are working for you, I'd say stick with those.

OPTODISC, but not RITEK? I'd say firmware is faulty.

Nope. A lot of people have less than stellar performance with Riteks. You may have also received a "Bad batch".

    Your firmware is ok.

Also as said before, the drive is a horrible reader, although its burning is stellar.

  6. It is funny of this that I just realize Ritek is not going to work on NEC burner. It happened to alot of people I know. I say stay away from Ritek if you got NEC burner. Try some other cheap but good brand

I was nervous after reading this post, as I was burning my first Ritek dvd-r on my NEC 1300. Seems to work just fine. FYI -Check out these 2 links in regards to this matter.

So far so good, I've been using Riteks on mine for a couple months now and they all play back in my 1300a.

  10. Thanks for all the input.

I am going to get return the ritek's and get optodisks as they work fine.

BTW. The riteks i have are H4-5L19 (they are L19's i suppose) and have purple die. Fromt this thread, you all say these have proven to be the best ritek's. Maybe I got a bad batch. At least i have a known working brand for my 1300a.

I ended up using firmware 1.08 official with auto reset from herrie. Tried the other official and hack firmwares and this one seemed to work best. Leaving it alone
