  1. Hi all,

I'm sure by now everyone has seen how Conan O'Brien has that one little bit where there might be a picture (for example) of Arnold Schwartzenegger, or Bill Clinton, (still photo) but then has some guy in the background talking for him, and all you can see moving are the actual lips of the person talking, in place of the real lips in the picture.

I'd like to do the same exact thing in a video, with a song playing along with it, and the lips matching the song, but with a still picure of something overlaying everything but the lips. Can anyone point me in the right direction (or tell me exactly how to do it to save me a ton of time :P ) on how to do this?

    Much appreciated!

I suspect they just film the actors normally, then do a (real-time?) oval crop of the area around the mouth, discarding everything else, and superimpose that over the image.

They could also have the actor wear a green mask covering everything but the mouth area, and green-screen the image... but that would make it a bit difficult to see the cue cards. :P
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

In sony vegas there is an app called cookie cutter, you can use it to remove all the elements from a video except for an area of which demension you wish, you can use this to composite the videos.
