  1. I'm trying to demux an divx avi file, when I get the demuxed files the audio files work fine, but the video is black only. I'm using ffxmpegx to demux. Any ideas on this problem? I want to burn this divx to a dvd, when i tried to use toast to do this i get the same problem w/ the black video, and working audio.

quicktime doesnt handle divx very well... even when the codex's are installed

rerun your demux in ffmpegx and see if the parts play in VLC
if they do then there you go

if not, try to do an encode to whatever it is you want to get out of these files you are demuxing that should work better since it will re-encode the video... say if you want to do divx to SVCD or DVD or something like that

  5. I found a solution quite by accident tonight to a LOT of SVCD/VCD issues from avi files, on the ffmpegX board, someone suggested running my avi through the fast divX option, as it supposedly solved a lot of sync issues, then run the fast VCD option, it's worked very well for me so far. BUT after having a few too many (my team clinched the division title in hockey) I took one of my fast divX conversions, and somehow the fastVCD settings became the MPEG2 ffmpegX, and audio had been switched to 48000. I set it to encode, hit the shower, and came out to it rocketing through the conversion, and almost done (1/2 hour TV ep). When finished, the final MPEG played perfectly, but just for kicks, I authored the elementary streams in Sizzle........and it worked PERFECTLY? Flawless sync, no skips, no nothing wrong, and in about 1/10th of the time a DVD encode would take? I know Major siad 0.9b would have some improvements to the ffmpegX encoding, but damn....just using the regular fastVCD settings gets very good results too, just make sure to run a fast divX setup first!

  6. Did you have problems in the past with video not coming out when you demuxed a avi? This is the problem I'm having, the audio is there, but all I see is black. I will give what you said a shot when I get home though. Thanx for the reply.
