well i used TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 to convert an *.mpg video file i have, after finding out what the right resolution and framerate for dvd movies is. then i opened up TMPGEnc dvd author 1.5 to add the mpg file to a project.. now the only error i get is:
"* A video sequence header is necessary for every GOP in a standard DVD.
The video header is incorrect.
A video sequence header is necessary for every GOP in a standard DVD."
how can i fix this? also, how do you convert a *.wmv to an mpeg? videotoolbox doesnt recognize wmv's, and tmpgenc plus wont even open them to convert... any help would be greatly appreciated![]()

thanks andie, setting the "Output interval of sequence header" from 0 to 1 solved the problem, and dvd author added it to the list
. now, can anyone help me out with how to convert asf\wma\wmv and quicktime movie files to mpeg? and in tmpgenc plus, whats the difference between the "ES"(Video + Audio) and "System"(Video + Audio) Stream types? becuase when i pick ES, it encodes the movie to 2 files, one for video and audio i guess... how do you put these together on a dvd compilation? thanks again

ES is elementary stream - video only.
most authoring programs will accept video+audio separate or
a system stream with both in one
If Vdub will open your WMV files , you can frameserve to TMPGenc

You can use TMPGEnc to convert both wmv/asf and Quictime movies. For Quicktime, install the TMPGEnc Mov Plugin. Getting TMPGEnc to open asf/wmv is a lot more complicated. It doesn't always work the first time for a variety of reasons. Check out this thread:

I'm afraid you are out of luck because it sounds like you have a corrupt file. I have yet to successfully repair a bad wmv file. As a last resort you can try converting to mpeg with Canopus Procoder. Sometimes it's less sensitive to problematic files than TMPGEnc.

hey, i fixed the seek problem. i simply converted the wmv to an avi, and it now works(seeks) perfectly. so this is basically the solution to anyone else who may be having the same problem 8).

Windows media files can be made seekable and un-seekable. The first is more appropriate for files you download and play while the second more appropriate for streaming media where every bit of overhead removed is welcome.
Another way to fix the unseekable file is to use ASFTools v.3.1 to re-encode the wmv file to become seekable. Then this (or such) files will be acceptable to Tmpgenc. The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
