  1. Im fairly new to this whole thing and still learning the ropes. I managed to make a vcd of the 'enter the dragon' dvd i had on my pc. It worked fine and I used DVDx to do it. For what ever reason, DVDx disnt working for me anymore, every time I try to start a new project an error window pops up 'dll error, cannot authenticate, disk may not be locked'.
So... Im using 'Sefy's classical DVD to VCD ripping guide' everything works fine, i use dvd2avi and tmpgenc, I burnt it on cd and put it in my dvd player. It looked great except the sound was about 2-3 minutes behind the video. I.ve tried configuring everything and everytime i get the same results. How can I fix this, or is there another way to do this? Please help, thanks.

I was trying to convert startrek DS9 dvd which is on my hard drive.

  2. Regarding your DVDx problem, are you accessing from a DVD drive or from a ripped VOB on your local HDD ?

As for DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc, is your movie PAL/NTSC or Film ? and how are you encoding the movie ?

  3. Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm actually trying to convert them from the VOB files on my hard drive. From what I've seen with the programs it seems it would of been easier with the dvd's. I live in canada and all the dvd's were ntsc format. I''m not sure about your question for encoding. I use the 4:3 ratio and I tried the 16:9 with borders going into mpeg1 and mpeg2. I get the same problem everytime. I tried different dvd's but it's the same. I noticed that there are additional files in the dvd/vob folder. 'name'01_00.vob, 'name'01_01.vob, 'name'02_00.vob, ''name02_01.vob......up to 8 0r 9 or something like that. I noticed that the actual movie doesnt start on the first file but usually it starts on the number that has the most files. I dont know if that has anything to do with it. Thanks for your help.

  4. Ok, now, regarding your DVDx problem, the reason you are getting that message is because you are accesing VOB files which have already been ripped, you must go to the Input Settings and turn off the DeCSS decryption since it is not needed, and then you will be able to use it

As for your second problem, are you using Film or NTSC in your Encoding ? that is what I ment, you may have caused a little A/V sync because you did not match the encoding output to your source movie format
