hi,
i have an ati aiw 9600 card and so far i have only been capturing with ati software as svcd mpeg2 format, but i 'm trying to capture as avi and the quality of the avi from this software's capture is not very good so i'm switching to virtualdub
now, i have already installed huffy and picvideo mjpeg codecs but in the compression codec list invirtualdub, those r not there; i wonder if anyone has seen this problem
thanks

with the huffy, i rightlick on the ini file and click install (per its attached instruction); the other one is just regular .exe install; it has 3 diff. codecs in the install file

Have you checked to see if it is in the System32 folder? Does your system prevent writing to the registry?
Hello. -
no i havent done that, but when i went to control panel -multimedia -video codecs and i see them in the list of installed codecs; so i dont really unerstand why they r not seen in virtualdub
btw, i have an ati aiw 9600; i have directv so there's no signal from the analog tv tuner;i do get the signal from the svideo connection to the directv receiver; i dont know if this bit of info makes any difference or not.
