I have a Plextor ConvertX AV100U and I am capturing from Virtualdub but on my video camera it's 16:9 widescreen and on the Virtualdub it is squashed to what appears to be 4:3 and filled to fit the box. What do I do? I searched for solutions but all I found was telling me how to use the resize filter but this just moves the content to the right side of the video box.

First virtualbub displays video at its resolution. I'm assuming you have a digital cam, it records 16:9 or 4:3 at the same resolution of 720 x 480(576 for pal).

Secondly assuming again its a digital cam (I'm assuming this because of the 16:9) You connect it via firwire to a fire wire card, transfer as DV-AVI with something like windv , you don't need a capture device. This is bit for bit copy of what is on the tape.

OK my computer case has a firewire port on it and my case had a connector which goes into a firewire slot on my motherboard, does this mean I have firewire?

There is no way to get the right resolution/aspect ratio in Virtualdub? Because I won't be near anywhere where I can get a firewire cable in the next week.
