  1. Is an expensive (i.e. $4000) DVD burner less likely to burn DVDs with errors? Also when people talk about errors are they mainly related to ripping or is burning a movie you made just as prone to getting errors? Thanks.

User error is the most common.

Yes, other than a defective piece of media, the odds heavily favor an error being user related as opposed to hardware or software related. I would imagine somewhere around 98 percent of the time, or better.

Cheap vs expensive software is not really the issue. Too many unknown variables in the PC environment that change from PC to PC that can affect things. One program that may run great for me on my computer may run like crap on another person's computer if they've got their system configured differently or have corrupt software/driver problems that don't exist on mine. How well a piece of software performs is completely subjective. They all do their intended purpose sufficiently in the proper environment. If they didn't, their creators couldn't justify charging money for it.

  7. how reliable are the dvd checking programs which look for errors, what would you suggest also do U know if an expensive dvd burner is less likely to burn errors?

  8. Unless your burner is defective, it is highly unlikely to be the source of any errors.

Defective media and user-induced errors in the video itself are far more likely to be the problem.

Hundreds of pages of posts and guides are available to help you learn what not to do. Strongly suggest you invest some time reading before purchasing anything.
