  1. I'm talking downloaded Divxs....I have downloaded one so far, and followed the DivX to DVD with AC3 guide to the letter. The source was 23.97 Film Divx. I did everything as said to do with that type of source 3:2 pulldown, etc. in TMPGENC. I still get random 'jerkiness' or not smooth video sporadically throughout the DVD. I don't see this in the original Divx when I watch it on the computer. If anyone has a procedure that works cleanly for handling Divx -> DVD (NTSC), can you please share it? I'm desperate to make this work right...I have tried so many different settings in TMPGEnc and still get the 'jerkiness'......Thanks.

  2. might want to check out this site
    http://dvd-hq.info/Compression.html

would also help if you added more info on how you're encoding the divx.
are you encoding with cbr or vbr? what's the bitrate, you're using? Did you do anything with the GOP structure?
When is the jerkiness happening? does it happen on fast motion scenes or is it random?

I convert a lot of animes and they seem to come out pretty good, but I'm always picking up new tricks on how to improve quality.

  3. I have done some good conversions (Divx to DVD PAL) with ulead movie factory, my only (slight) problem was that when I turned up the volume in the final dvd, the sound quality was not so good. When playing in lower volume the problem was not so intense.

I download alot of Divx videos ... and then use Intervideo WinDVD Creator 2 ... to create a DVD Compliant Mpg-2 video file. With AC-3 audio.

I then use TMPGEnc DVD Author to create the DVD folder.

    I have no problems.

Two ... 1 hour Divx videos ... of one movie ... creates a 8 gig mpg-2 video file. I then use TMPGEnc DVD Author ... to do the final touch.

I then shrink it ... Nero Recode 2 ... wouldn't touch it "Too Big" ... so I used Intervideo DVD Copy 1.2B ... no problems at all.

I always use CCE and if the source is ok
    then the output is ok.
Only thing that I need to struggle with sometimes
    is the audio.

Tried bit rate at CBR 8000 and CBR 5000, same results of seemingly random 'jitters' but maybe in the same spots. Could this be a sign of a bad source, although not visible when played on the computer? I had all settings in TMPGEnc as told in the 'Advanced TMPGEnc' settings guide here at dvdrhelp. I'm going to try to convert another movie tonite, and see how it turns out....Definitely keep all your 'procedures' of converting Downloaded Divx to DVD coming, I will try them all out and see what works best. Again, I would preferably like to continue downloading these as a 1.5 GB download is much nicer than a 4.7 - 9 gb download! Thanks!

I have found a cure for my jittering problems .
My experience is if you have a PAL or NTSC and convert it to the other format you get the jitters.
I live in PAL land and find if I encode a NTSC clip to PAL using TMPGenc it has the jitter.

One day I thought I would try keeping one NTSC and it worked perfectly well in PC , Standalone Player , Philips DVDR75 and PS2 on a PAL tv so I figured basically all these players cope perfectly well with both NTSC and PAL so I convert to the same format as the source with No jitters .

I tried on a +RW first to test and have had no problems since.
