    I have an asf file that wont let me skip through it. Any idea why!? And any idea about how to get passed this problem!?

    Download ASFTools to fix your ASF file, and make it seekable.

    Right.

    As far as the "why", it's possible to make ASF files that are not seekable. The only reason I can think someone would want to do that is to prevent people from skipping through a video (such as in education environments where you want to make sure someone has watched the video and not just skipped to the end).
