  1. OK, after taking peoples advice and using VirtualDub, TMPGEnv & Author, things seem to be going ok (thankyou to those people), but I have a few questions.

    1. When would I use Direct or Full processing.

    2. If I have a Divx Ac3.avi, what tool can I use, as I've installed the ac3 plugin and set VirtualDub to direct, but this causes TMPGEnv to lockup when try to convert audio file.

    3. When launching Virtual dub, I've had the prompt about incompatible VBR, but ignored it and things have worked fine, was that just luck.

    4. If I have a Divx.avi which has 23fps, what do I need to do get this to correct fps (25), I see there are some options in VirtualDub, but with a warning below the option.

    Cheers

    1. direct stream copy=it will just copy the audio with no conversion, full processing=it will convert the audio to the compression format you choosed under audio->compression, by defaul wav/pcm
    2. https://www.videohelp.com/convert#447
    3. read the errror msg, you will only get audio sync problems if you use direct stream copy.
    4. https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/78178.php , only convert the video with tmpgenc to 25 fps,be sure to set Do not frame convert under advanced and convert the audio with besweet, set 23,976 to 25.

  3. Cheers for that, anything I can do to make the final authoring better quality, like tweeking any settings in VirtualDub or TMP, audio always sounds fine, picture can sometimes be a little blocky, original files are crisp and clear.

You can always try lower the resolution, like using 352x580/576.

  5. Baldrick, I normally load one of the default templates, would I need to go through it manually in TMP by making a note of all template settings, then just changing the resolution.
