Hi, there, I wonder if anyone can help me on this issue:
Pentium 4 2.4 MHz
20+130 Gb hardrive
GeForce 4
1 Gb RAM
I just bought a DVD RW thingie for my computer.
Some would say "Oh, no, E., a CD burner is more than enough for you."
But having survived years of burning entire CD sets for a mere album (where I could get up to 48-50 files of 30 megs each), I decided that no thanks. I īve had enough of that.
Stack ALL them files into a single DVD and I donīt have to put another thought onto it.
Plus I can do backups of my hardrives that wonīt completelly fill my shelves.
Said. Done.
My first experiment, I decided to do a backup of my hardrive,.
I have this folder CRAMMED with gigs upon gigs of images, jpegs, gifs, small CG clips, film trailers, PDFs and etc that I downloaded over the years from the internet.
Funny stuff, cute stuff, weirds stuff, you name it, itīs there.
I decide I wanted to do a backup of said folder since there are things there that I find priceless (and probably impossible to find again).
I put a virgin DVD into the DVD RW tray and Sonic RecordNow DX starts.
I select the folder (3 gigs) and start doing a backup.
Suddenly, I receive an error message, something along the lines of :
"The files XYZ are not original"
OF COURSE theyīre not original.
Nothing in that folder is!
Or does it thinks I am the true author of the Matrix Revolutions trailer?
It interrupts the recording and upon checking the DVD, I find out that it only recorded a couple of jpegs.
Worst yet, I canīt stick it inside a the DVD RW and try again.
A perfectly brand new empty DVD (3 euros) to the trash bin.
Following this mishap, I bought Nero 6 (my Nero 5 didnīt recognise this new DVD RW thingie) only to find out that I canīt burn DVDs with it, only CDs.
Colour me doofus, thereīs more money to the gutter..
Can anybody help me?
Please?

Well I have never tried Record Now in any of the available versions so I do not have an answer for that issue. I can tell you with certainty that DVD burning IS supported with the Nero 6 that you bought. I would recommend that you upgrade it (free from Nero site) to version 6.3.0.2 due to known DVD burning issues with earlier versions.

Thank you for the repply, Maestro.
I only use Recordnow because it came with my DVD burner, Iīm more of a fan of Nero myself.
Been using it since version 3 but I have to confess Iīve never explored all of its potential as I only use it to burn image files and the occasional monthly backup cds.
I have this neat-looking Nero5 english-deutsch-french-italian-spanish red book but I have to confess I never really gave it a read since the mere sight gets me exhausted (manuals do this to me, I have stacks upon stacks of unread TV, VCR, etvc etc instructions manuals lying about).
Too bad since a quick read would have saved me a lot of white hairs. :P"They say that if you play the Windows CD backward you can hear satanic speech; well, thatīs nothing.
