    HI,
Can I make a vcd or svcd that will automatically start playing when inserted into a dvd player?
    Thanx in advance.

  2. AFAIK, any VCD or SVCD will autoplay in a standalone DVD player, if you don't put a menu on it at the authoring stage.

    cheers,

I beg your pardon?! You say "afaik", but are you sure about that? Whatever vcd / svcd I have authored, even without menu, do not autoplay in my Pioneer 535. I think this feature is not even foreseen by the specs, it is meant for DVD only...

  4. Fair enough - I wasn't 100% sure, which is why I said As Far As I Know.

On both standalone DVD players I've owned, (S)VCD's just start playing when the drawer closes if there's no menu in the authoring.

They've both been cheapy players though - not as posh as a Pioneer :P

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

Well, it seems that the newest "cheap-and-dirty" far-east models can make miracles nowadays But, frankly speaking, I do think that this feature is not foreseen by the official specs...

  6. Some DVD players will play anything automatically. My Sony DVP NS 315 will play anything auto after i cahnged some settings. So it depends on the DVD player.

Thanks for all the replies.I use GE 1101p player.I guess that it is an issue with the players specs and not something we can write onto the vcd.
    Thanx.
