help the screen turns pink when trying to convert to dvd

hi ive got a freinds series its in avi but im trying to convert it to dvd with tmpge but every time i preview it or convert it the dvd output turns pink on and off but its fine when i play it as an avi file can someone help and i also get blocky images which i didnt in the avi version i tries reducing the color, and it got rid off the pink bit but the whole movie is nearly un watchable please someone help thanks
