  1. Just wondered what peoples choice was for backing up their DVDs,

and whats the best program for ripping just the movie and the menus? Iliked the look of DVDshrink but you can actually remove the extras that you dont want, can you?

  2. MenuEdit or DVDStripper may be used to remove bits and pieces of the disk you don't like. MenuEdit will go one step further and disable buttons linking to removed material.

  3. My favourite is DVD Shrink followed by Nero to burn the finished backup, and yes you can remove unwanted items in DVD Shrink.

DVDShrink doesn't like IFO mode rips either, but VOBEdit can fix that in a jiffy.

  6. Just got my Pioneer Ao6/106 today from Novatech + 25 Novatech DVD-R (4x) for £115

Got the old cd/rw out put the DVD-RW in, no probs at all.

Backed up Charlies Angels 2 onto 1 DVD-r using CloneDVD, dropped all extras bar 3 featurettes, allowing movie to be kept at 100% quality.
It took 29 mins to do the whole transcoding and burning, popped in Standalone and its a perfect back up,

    Looks spotless!

    thanks for your help!

DVD Decrypter (free) to rip and InstantCopy 8 (about $35 at Buy.com) to squeeze and burn. InstantCopy 8 makes the best quality squeezed DVD's bar none. Download the trial. The quality of even a full 8+g squeeze will surprise you. Go Movie Only, and you'll be in heaven.
