What avi plugin (codec) are you using?

What format are the avi files encoded in?

I am trying to trim the opening/closing credits off some Japanese anime TV shows (RahXephon) - because only 1-through-24 will fit on a DVD. If I trim the "redundant" parts - I may be able to fit all 26 episodes on one DVD-R.

My first attempt, with the Divx 5.1beta2 codec, seemed to reduce the quality -slightly- after trimming. And the Quicktime information window stated the video was "XviD" => which may be the problem. Divx trying to write a non-"Divx" file.

Just downloaded the 3ivx codec, and the Quciktime info window states the video is "3ivx D4 4.0.4, 640x480, millions".

After the trim, and saving as a "yadayada.mov" file - the quality appears identical to the original.
