  1. hi

i was having problems capturing (detailed in this post https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=179521) where i had been capturing fine, with no frame drops, then my 40gb IBM hard drive died, i bought a new WD 80gb 8mb cache hard drive and restored my system from an image, exact same settings and every 1/2 hour i would drop 3 frames.

i tried driver updates, different programs, and still had the problem. i got a replacement IBM 40gb hard drive and this hard drive had the same problem, while looking for problems etc on my computer i found an irq conflict, or "sharing" if you will, on IRQ18 between my Leadtek Winfast TV2000xp Deluxe capture card and my Realtek Network card.

this afternoon i did a clean install of xp, and have the very latest in all my drivers, also nvidia wdm 1.08 drivers, and applied the pci latecy patch. however the irq conflict still exists on IRQ18.

any ideas on how to change this, and also do you think that would be causeing the 3 frame drops every 1/2 hour?

Welcome to yet another M$ dark Secret.

In W2K and XP, IRQ steering is turned on by default. There is no way to undo it.

You can avoid it by setting some switches when you run the install program form a DOS prompt. This is the only time you can turn it off. The switch isn't there when you use the /? switch, it's not documented. Do a search on the M$ knowledge base under IRQ steering.
