A friend lent me a DVD-R that was somehow created with a screwed up directory. It won't play on either of my component DVD players or my AGP G4 tower. My iBook was able to open it so I used DVDbackup to extract it. I transfered the VIDEO_TS folder to my tower and the .VOB files are fine and they play perfectly in VLC. This is probably a real basic question, but what is the best way to re-author this to a working DVD? Also, what is going to be the quickest and easiest way to do some basic editing of the .VOB files? The DVD consists of several musical performances that I would like to separate.

    yes
    1. demux the .vob's and you will get individual movie and audio files for each .vob
    2. you can then reimage the dvd in working order with sizzle to make it playback normally
    3. if you want to edit the movie, you now have individual movie and audio files and can edit accordingly

What's your preference for demuxing .VOB files? bbDemux is quick, but gave me files that Sizzle said were not valid. It also created another file besides the .vob and .ac3 files. What are these and do I need them? Thanks for your (always) great advice.

    honestly, thats what i use.
.m2v (mpeg2 video with no sound) and .ac3 (the sound corresponding to .m2v)

If you get anything different, which you shouldn't, unless its a strange audio type, just convert the audio

if you dont get .m2v i have no idea what you are getting.

acceptable audio for sizzle is essentially all types, .ac3 .mp2 LPCS and DTS
