    Hi everybody:
I want to buy ADVC-1394, however, I do not quite understand their video connectors.
    on the specs page (http://www.canopus.us/US/products/advc-1394/pt_advc-1394.asp#specifications)
    you can read:
    Analog Video Input
    S-Video and Composite combined(mini DIN 7-pin)
I understand it is no problem to buy a cable with S-video on one end and BNC (RCA) on the other.
The thing I do not understand is how they connect their RCA connector on the 5 1/4" front bay to the card? The card does not have that connector on the outside. I would imagine the cable is connected to some point inside the card. Connecting the insides of a front bay jack to the outside S-video jack on the card would mean having to drill a hole in the case, so this is obviously not how Canopus intended connecting the front bay.
Can someone who owns this card with the front bay explain how the connection is made?
I would rather not spend $90 for the bay, that is the only reason I am trying to figure it out. Pardon if I missed smth on the Canopus specs page.
    Thx walter

The connector on the card is an S-Video type, the card comes with a RCA to S-Video converter cable (its about 3 inches long). To use S-Video, you plug the cable directly into the card. To use RCA, you plug the RCA cable into the converter cable and that plugs into the card.

I've used both S-Video and RCA and both work fine. I don't have the front bay, but I think it works in a similar manner.

    Don't be silly.....

The front bay kit comes with a ribbon cable that attaches to the PCI card, ALL INSIDE THE CASE.

BTW, the front bay kit also has seperate S-video and composite jacks, so you don't need the cable that you use for the PCI card.
