    Id like to use this device to capture video from my tv and relay it to my computer probably through virtual dub or sony vegas or some other movie editing software.

    My dilemma is the following: I have a sony wega tv from 05. It has no video out option. I would like to record some xbox games into videos. I was looking into component switch boxes and i saw some had video out.

    Would this be sufficient to capture component input 6 or 7? (RCA 1-5, component 6-7) Is there any possible way to capture such video with my current setup of:

    TV (with no video out) ----> canopus advc ----> computer.

    Are there any other alternatives to this?

    hopefully someone has a great solution for me - i cant think of any other route, perhaps splitting the signal...thanks for any ideas.

    The ADVC would need to be in the path ahead of the TV.

    Game S-video goes into ADVC, S-Video goes out to the TV while IEEE-1394 DV output feeds the computer.

    The ADVC-110 has no analog component in or out.

    Ed - what do you propose i could do? I certainly do not want to use my computer as the source ahead of the tv. Would you suggest a component switch or maybe split the signal. Iam really swimming for ideas.

    You said you don't have video out of the TV so all switching/capture needs to be before the TV. There is no cheap YPbPr capture device if that is what you are sending from the XBox360. The latest ADS Pyro is said to have SD component in/out but I haven't tried it yet. It is similar functions to the ADVC.

    I thought you could play thru on the ADVC but I'm not near mine at the moment to check.

    xbox --- s-video --> in - advc - out -- s-video --> tv
    computer<--- firewire --->|

    Yes, that is the way the ADVC and Pyro work. I have my ADVC-100 wired that way with a HD cable box as the source. Firewire feeds two separate computers so I can record 480i from either one.

    The Pyro adds 480i YPbPr i/o but I haven't used it in this application.
