Hi , I have a question about cd format . on an iBook g3/600 when i put a 800MB cd i have only these options to format the disc :
-standard (HFS+/ISO 9660)666,8MB
-MP3 cd (ISO 9660) 666,8MB
-iTunes (audio ) 79min cd .
As I'd like to burn a avi file of 760,5MB I wonder if my cd driver is able to support 800M disc or only 650M disc .
So how to format a 800M disc on my computer ?
thanks![]()

you mean you have a 700 MB / 80 min. CD-R, right
without converting to (S)VCD MPEG, you will have to burn your .avi file as mode 1 DATA...which means you can only fit 700 MB per CD-R.
---------
only way you can fit 800 MB is if you convert your .avi into either VCD MPEG-1 or SVCD MPEG-2 and burn/author as mode 2 (i.e. using nero's (S)VCD templates).... only in this case can you fit 800 MB per CD-R.
--------
btw, most DVD players can't play .avi files directly...you will definitely need to convert to .mpg for your dvd player to play. -
hum... thanks for reply
I confirm it's a 90min/800M cd and I only wanted to know about the cd format when i put it in my iBook . there's only format for 650M cd so does my computer can burn 800M cd ? I don't need to do SVCD or whatever , i just want to put a big file in the cd , that's all ! -
Friend had the same iBook. the OS burnig software only looks at what the recoder can handle. 80 minute/ 700 megs is the LIMIT. and no overburn permitted.
