well basically, i tried changing a film to VCD and there was no sound, so i used virtualDub as advised, to seperate the audio from the video, but for every film i try and do this on i get the same error, at the same point in the program, i click on "full proccessing method" after opening a film, then i click on compression, as it says on this website, and when i click on compression the program comes up with an error and exits, its driving me mad, can anyone help me please?

You may as well try a program called Gold Wave. Load your video into it, and save the file as a wave file.

i want to seperate the aduio from the image, not completely change it, or is that what it will do?

What kind of audio does the video have?

it does it with 2 films that i have, not sure what audio they have, but it says on this site that you need to seperate the audio from the video, then in tmpeg, where you chose the audio and video, if the audio is not seperated it automatically loads it to tmpeg at this step, but if it is seperated you locate it yourself, anyway, this website specifically told me i have to seperate the audio from the video, no matter what the audio or video type is.

Okay, follow this guide. If it is wave and you still have the problem, try Gold Wave. If the audio turns out to be AC3,then you may need HeadAC3.

it works now i think, just in the middle of doing it now, no error yet though *crosses fingers* thanks a lot mate

use "Direct stream processing" in VD to demux audio and video

no need to re-encode something when ya dont want/need to
