Hello all,
I have Instant Copy 7.0.1.114 currently. Recently I have been trying to backup "Old School." I use the latest version of DVD Decrypter. After copying all the files to the HD using dvd decrypter, I use Instant Copy. I was actually successful in burning it once, but the audio was out-of-sync... so I've been trying to burn again with some different settings... I think I know why the audio was out of sync.
Anyway, I have now made 6 dvd coasters trying to reburn Old School. I'm still using the same RIP from the first time I RIP'd to the HD using DVD Decrypter... so nothing has changed there. What happens is that during the burning process in Instant Copy, it gets stuck. The program does NOT lock up at all... the burning just stops. The burn light on my pioneer 105 stays lit, but it does not do anything. It stops in a different place each time too... one time at 90 something percent and another around 60%. I've let it sit over 3-4 hours to see if it would start back up again, but it never does.
The first time I burned it successfully (except for the audio being out of sync) it was on either Maxell or Memorex media. All the ones that keep getting stuck are on TDK media. I'm thinking (and hoping) it is just bad media. So, right now I'm currently burning to a pioneer dvd-rw disc I've burned to several times successfully. However, if this one gets stuck too, I have no idea what the problem could be so I was hoping someone would read this and give me some ideas or might have had the same problem at one time.
Here is some info about my setup:
-AMD Athlon 1.8ghz
-256meg
-NVIDIA video
-Latest DVD Decrypter
-Instant Copy 7.0.1.114 (and yes, I have also tried the latest patch 7.1.1)
-Instant Copy hidden settings patch
-I have Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 installed and RecordNow Max 4.10 (I had these installed before and burned many movies using IC7... so I don't think there is a conflict here)
Read something about UDF readers can cause a problem. Not sure what a UDF reader is??? I can tell you I don't have direct cd installed or anything like that crap.
So, I apologize this is so long... just wanted to make sure I covered everything. I just don't understand how the first time I burned it, it worked. now when I'm trying to burn again to correct the audio, it stops in the middle of burning.
Oh, the only thing I'm doing different to correct the audio is I'm leaving all the different types of audio in (not deselecting any audio type in IC7) and I also took my Echo Gina sound card out of the system tray cuz I heard some audio tasks running in the system tray can cause problems while burning or processing dvd-r's.
My main problem is it just gets stuck, however if anyone has any ideas on why the audio would be out of sync, that would be great too!
Thanks,
DDude

Okey dokey,
So I got home from work and I had a successful burn to my other type of media. After at least 3-4 tries of burning this to TDK dvd-r's, I am assuming I got a bad batch of dvd-r's. I bought a 25 pack for 50 bones. I'm not saying TDK is bad or anything or maybe it is not even bad media, but it sure looks like I picked up a bad batch.
However I'm still having the sound problem. I have successfully burned this movie (Old School) twice now and when I play the first chapter, the sound is out of sync. The sound is actually early... before the video. However, I notice if I hit fast forward for a split second and then hit play, it will be in sync. Or, I can hit stop and then hit play and it will pick up where it left off with the sound in sync. Kinda wierd. All the other movies I ever burned I never had this problem. THis is the first movie I burned after I installed the hidden settings for Instant Copy 7, but I don't think they would have anything to do with it. Perhaps it is just my dvd player, but no other dvd-r's do this.
If anyone has any idea's it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Could be media could be IC. I would try burning with another program. I normally use DVD Decrytper. The newest verison can read the IC generated PDI files:
1) Choose "mode | iso - write"
2) Select the first PDI file in the series
3) Burn
Never had a problem with this set. Burning with another program also causes sync issues something went off with your IC transcoding. Did you use the reg hack or delete any scences? IC doesn't like that. Better to delete scences first with IFOEdit/DVD Toolbox/DVD Shirnk/etc. then feed that to IC. -
yeah try doing movie only uncompress with dvd shrink 2.3 freeware
then use ic7
