Done this for years running W98 no problems.
Running XP pro. Installed ASPI layer etc. To keep Smartripper (2.41) happy.
    Problem is this:
Rip VOB to HDD with Smart ripper.
Then run DVD2AVI (1.82) to Get seperate Audio/video file.
Go to load the .D2V file for TMPGE (254)and cannot select it(or even see it), I choose View/ all files then select the file but recieve the error message " Cannot open or unsupported file"
Has anyone encounted and found a fix for this problom.
    Cheers Dudes

Hello, Yes I too have the same problem. I have used the same procedure for quite awhile and all of a sudden my TMPEG wont recognize the d2v extension either. Im not sure if the problem lies in TMPEG or DVD2AVI. Im working on it and as soon as I figure it out Ill let you know--Sorry

Ive cracked it, downloaded DVDdecrypter and latest TMPGE, ripped vobs with decrypter, ran through original DVD2AVI (182) and was able to load it with new TMPGE, then checked with TMPGE (254) and was also able to load it, so problem layed with Smartripper for some reason.
    Try this and good luck.
    Cheers

I have been reading and found out that you can also go into the options setting, then environmental setting, then VFAPI plug-in, right click on direct show multimedia file reader and change the priority to 1 or 2 and then try to open if not then try priority 4. I havent tried it yet as Im at work and cant get to my comp ARGHHH. I will try your solution first Thanks

  6. you wouldn't happen to have 2 versions of dvd2avi installed, would you??

for some reason, if you made a .d2v file from version A and then opened up version B, tmpgenc will say that the .d2v file from version A has "file format unsupported". all you need to do is open up version A and then close it. tmpgenc will then recognize version A's .d2v file.

Hello, I figured it out I had cladxp, it expired so I deleted it. unfortunately my dvd2avi files were in that cladxp folder, so a file was missing that TMPEG needed. I reinstalled cladxp and everything works great.
