I've been done some DVD-ripping and converting to DivX with VirtualDub. I've resized the output (decreased horizontal/vertical resolution equally of course), however the final output looks a bit stretched. How come? I know that DVD is meant to be watched on standard TV, but how do I fix this properly for watching on my computer screen? There is no aspect ratio stuff to adjust in VirtualDub?

Do you mean substracting the same absoltute # of pixels from each dimension? The the resulting aspect ratio gets crocked. You should try to maintain the same ratio between horizontal and vertical resoltion.
