Look at the guides to the right for Tmpeg. It will allow you to cut out the commercials.

  3. Ummm... the guides on on the left of the page.

You can use VirtualDub to cut out unwanted scenes.

  4. The feature you need is the "clip editing" in TPMGEnc. Load the captued MPEG2 into TPMGEnc. Load the template (or configure the settings) you want. then click on "Settings" (bottom right). click on "Advanced" and then "Source Range". Clip editing is in the bottom left. Select the bits you want toi get rid of (or keep) and then choose the "clip edit" option. It is fairly intuitive.

If you find problems scrolling forwards or (particularly) backwards to set your areas for cutting/keeping, I would recommend you run the original mpeg2 through dvd2avi first, then use the resulting .d2v and .wav as your video and audio sources in TMPGEnc instead of the original MPEG2.

You an do similar with Virtualdub, but you need one of the modified MPEG2-capable variants. This approach is more complicated so I would tend to recommend the above.

    Good Luck
