I have a home video copied onto DVD which has a colour cast. Is it anything which edits the mpg file directly to alter the hue? I don't particularly want to use VirtualDub_MPEG2 (or similar) because the output will be an avi which will then need to be re-encoded back to mpeg.

As the image itself is not changing it would seem possible just to alter the colour attribute of each image and rewrite (or am I being too simplistic?).

If you change the content of the video, such as adjusting the hue, you have to re-encode.

Any decent editor that can output MPEG will be able to do this for you without going through the conversion to AVI. I'm unfamiliar with Vdub MPEG, it doesn't output MPEG?

VirtualDubMod and VirtualDub MPEG will not direct stream or output MPEG format. Womble MPEG editor will let you edit and output without re-encoding.

But you can't change the hue without reencoding as thecoalman says.
