  1. First, I believe is a problem caused by me with some stupid mistake that I made. I have been capturing TV to my computer via and ATI all in wonder radeon 7500. I have been doing lots of tweaking and testing between capturing to different file formats (AVI, MPG, MP2, etc...). I finally got the right format that was perfect for my needs.. MPEG-1, low resolution, low bit rate.

So i finally have these files, and I want to get them on DVD. I originally used the software that was bundled with my Pioneer A05 burner, which was Sonic MyDVD. I soon learned how pathetic of an app this was. I imported the video files into the GUI, and found that one of the 30 min., low bit-rate, low res files took more than half the disk space!

This could not be, so I tried different apps from Sonic and Ulead. Same result. I did notice a recording option in Sonic's app called "DVDit!" that allows me to record a special bit rate when burning to the disk. I put it on 1.5, the same bit rate at which my captured files are, and hit record. Nothing but errors. Every app I get the same result, every time.

    What am I doing wrong?

  2. My DVD only supports PCM audio. This eats up loads of disk space. You need to use an authoring app that will allow you to keep your audio at mp2 or convert to Ac3. Do a forum search for info on what authoring apps are suitable.

(FYI, for DVD, even with mpeg-1, the audio MUST be sampled at 48khz)

  3. I suggest that you use SVCD2DVDMPG+ to put your VCD's on a DVD.
