I have ripped a DVD using smartripper and then used DVD2AVI and TMPGENC for the encoding (followed seffys guide), i have done this several times before with no problems. However this time when the VCD is burnt i get a really loud hissing sound and the audio is very faint in the background, any ideas.

drb1973: maybe u can help me. i ripped my first dvd following that guide, (smart ripper, dvd2avi, TMPGEnc) to vcd. nice video, but no audio, ive done it several times. i started with audio track 1 in dvd2avi like the guide said but changed it the next two times thinking it was the wrong track. each time no audio, i use the d2v as the video source and the wav as the audio in tmpgenc. any suggestions?

DRB: Sounds like the audio bitrate maybe too low for your player hence the hiss; also check yer settings in DVD2AVI (I use sefys guide) you may have changed these without realising!
ISOGONIC: You are just missing somthing, make sure you follow the instructions in the guides to the letter. I too struggled to begin with but dont give up, the answers are on this site. (It took me several reads before I got it right and even now I still make mistakes!)Yeah Baby! -
@drb1973, Have you tested the WAV file before you started the encoding ? if there are any problems, it should already be in the original WAV file.
@isogonic, Please do the same as i've suggested above, see how the WAV file plays and report back.Email me for faster replies!
