I hope this fits this forum area since it does concern capture of video/audio.
Been think on this subject for about a week. I check the archive of threads here but found very few thing on this topic.
The basic topic is this. If you even calibrate your setup how do you do it and how do you make sure you start off with a real standard. Can you trace it back to a true standard? This covers both sound and all aspects of video.
Got one idea for color calibration:
(1). Capture a color bar frame through a SVideo cable feeding into the capture at lowest compression and largest rez and save out without any compression.
(2). By digital means capture that same frame without compression.
(3). Load both into Photoshop and compare the values sampling of each color.
(4). If close by eye and sample values then ok.
It pritty crude but basicaly like calibrating a voltmeter. Just bump it againt a known standard.
